In the beginning, when I first became aware of photography, my uncle gave me a camera, and since my parents had been building a house for themselves, it was a natural subject for me to dapple with the medium. I was fascinated by the daily transformation, workers reshaping materials to fit the structures details, and the detritus from the wood, mirriad of tools, so much to see.
Being Nicaraguan, we only had Black and White film, which was quite a blessing because of the graphic nature of the medium. It would be months before he would develop the images for me, making proof-sheets and with the help of a magnifying glass I could glimpse into the past, and my future.
I studied photography at Laney College, then The Academy of Art, apprenticed with photographers and started my own business in 1996.
I work all across the US and internationally.
